As what? A sweet charmed chic guy next door?

A romantic guy ready to pounce the heart of millions of lady viewers out there?

No…not this time…

He is no ordinary guy this time. He is coming to us as an aloof, remorseless, irreputable serial killer,

who confesses to ten murders and furthermore writes a bestseller book about his his murders.

A sharp contrast to all the characters that he has portrayed so far in his acting career.

He is ever so more handsome, beautiful and graceful and yet all his beauty and inner charm will be

exuded not as a romantic guy but as a lethal serial killer.

Hard to imagine isn’t it?

Hard to imagine that this gentle shy man would turn out to be infamous killer of ten innocent women, isn’t it?

But, that is exactly what Park Sihoo does best with his crafts : do what is unimaginable and do it extremely well.

With every different role that he had taken, he was able to melt into the character so effortlessly that the person Park Sihoo seems to have disappeared wtihout a trace. The character that he played became Park Sihoo himself and two were dissolved as one, literally body and soul. No wonder there is some gap between different roles he plays…he needs time to ease out of the bygone character before preparing for the smooth transition into the next character. He has been quoted as saying in the past interviews that he tries to forget the role that he had just finished playing in order to fully concentrate for the upcoming character and I don’t know what professionalism is if this kind of mind is not. Therefore, the role that he had come out of , Kim Seung-You, will have been shelved into his memory for the time being as he warms himself up for the next rold, Lee Doo-Seuk.

Lee Doo-Seuk is one interesting character to say the least.

He not only confesses to murder but he writes a book about it after waiting for the statue of limitations to expire.

As if he had been waiting this moment of glory all his life, he thrives in the spotlight and the atttention given to him by the public and the media as his stardom hits a dizzying height. His attractive visual features certainly play a significant role in making him into an overnight sentation in the literature world not to mention a celebrity with a budding fan club as a proof. His loving looks as well as a knack for a good yarn plus the fact that he seems to really renounce his evil past make him a highly attractive product to sell in the media world where there is ever continuing thirst for shocking and stimulating stories. What is more, Lee Doo-Seuk seems to know how to play this media game, knowing intuitively when to appear and disappear, when to smile or shed tears and when to glow in the spotlight. An almost basic instinct that he was born with, a talent that comes so naturally to him and a gift that he seems to bask in.

However, we must not forget the bereaving families in the midst of this what only seems like a crazy media frenzy over an uncontrollable magalomanic serial killer who was fortunate enough to narrowly escape the trap of the statue of limitations. This blinding law, statue of limitations, has been extinct in other countries such as Japan and USA for some time now. Korea is one of the few remaining countries in the world that carries on the old tradition but it will go into history as of October this year. A killer is a killer no matter how much time has lapsed since the act of murders : the devastated families will have to suffer for the rest of the lives so the fact that the statue of limitations for murder existed in the first place is sheer nonsense. The killer is able to go free and yet the families suffer in silence in a lifelong sentence. Where is the logic in this? Who will heal the wounds of the families and how can the wounds ever be healed? No amount of time or treatment will be able to compensate for the pain and torture that the families have to go through minute by minute. No amount of fiscal compesation will be adequate to cover their deep loss for the ones they love. No one and nothing in the world will undo the pain that is swallowing them into the deep deep crevice of despair and depondency.

Park Sihoo’s debut film, < Confession of Murder > will hopefully touch on the ever so delicate issues on these bereaved families who are suffering in silence as we speak. Films on this topic mostly focus on the portrayal of the serial killers : there is not much attention give to the devastated families. The public has unquenchable curiosity about the psyche of the these deluded maniacs and yet not many people seem to divert their attention to the victims of these senseless impulsive killings. The public has had enough of the a study of the serial killers and how their subconscious works : it is now time to focus on the genuine victims. Innundated with films like< The Chaser> < I saw the Devil>, the interest on the topic of serial killers is running thin now as each film comes out. The victims deserve the attention once and for all and I hope Park Sihoo’s new film < Confession of Murder > will be the start of similar films to follow in the future.

As for Park Sihoo, he has one task in this film and that is to present to the public a side that had not ever been exposed so far. Dark, brooding, calculating, manipulating… these are some of the adjectives that befit the shady character such as Lee Doo Seuk , who not only is a cold-blooded murderer but a straight-faced clown who will do anything to get a grab of fame and forturne even if it means selling his murder stories to the world. How humiliating it must feel for the families of the victim….

How selfish of him to trade his murder stories for money….

But then that is typical of a psychopath with a hint of narcissistic traits who lacks the ability to feel compassion and empathy for the unfortunate. He lives in a world of his own, forever trapped in the artificial playground where he is the unfathomable ruler of insanity. His sweet charming face will be even more deceiving as his loving eyes will turn into those of a heartless killer at his whim. His attractive face, body and manners will be the weapons for luring the victims to his lap ready to pounce on them when he feels the uncontrollable urge to kill. Somewhat like Patrick Bateman from the moviebut even more appealing, deceiving and attractive on the big screen. Park Sihoo will, without doubt, mesmerize his viewers with his charm and knowing smile and his character, Lee Doo Seuk, will again be deeply engraved in our memories until the challenge of another character comes along the way.

I look forward to meeting Lee Doo Seuk on the big screen and discovering yet another side to Park Sihoo that has not been exposed in the open so far. His sheer talent and passion for acting as well as challenge for something new and different excite me every time. His unstoppable quench for superb acting and the tenacity that he pursues his aim surprise me to no end. Just the raw energy and talent is a sheer joy to watch.

I wish him the best with his new movie and hope that this work will be the stepping stone for something greater to come in his brillint acting career.
